by Peter Bertonich

There seems to be an essential skill that isn’t taught to our kids much these days. Cooking. Who teaches their kids to cook now? Well you should, and the best place to start is with homemade candy.

If you start teaching your kids to cook something they don’t like they probably won’t develop a love of cooking. But if you start the kids out cooking homemade cakes or homemade candy you can just about guarantee that the kids will love it, and want to do more.

Last night I was doing some cooking with my kids who are 11 and 8. They had a great time and of course they got to lick out the bowl too. Kids get so much enjoyment from cooking something that is simple to cook and great to eat. And homemade candy is always great to eat.

And once kids learn to cook they have a skill for life. And they graduate pretty fast from homemade candy onto other stuff.

There’s a few simple things to remember, whether they’re cooking homemade candy or anything else. Allow plenty of time, expect mess, start with a simple recipe and get them started on the simple tasks.

And of course you’ve got to keep them away from heat, so avoid candy, for example, that requires a syrup. Syrup is heated to a high temperature so kids shouldn’t be stirring it, for example. No syrup burns.

And there’s just some stunning wonderful homemade candy recipes for kids too. I’ve mentioned syrup, it’s also a little difficult to do too, as you have to get the temparature just right, so steer clear of syrup and start with some of the more basic homemade candy recipes like truffles or pralines.

But when you’ve got the kids confident at their cooking they can try so many different candy recipes. I just love toffee, especially the chewy type of toffee, how about truffles, or nougat. Yumm.

There you go I’m hungry now.

Seriously though, teaching the kids to cook candy gets them on the road to cooking for life, and they learn to love to cook anything with time.

So grab some great homemade candy recipes, there’s lots on my website. And it’s cheaper and makes better candy than the store bought candy. Get the kids involved, they’ll thank you for it when they get older.

Parenting is one of the biggest life decisions ever made and raising children is the second step to a life long series of changes. When choosing the right parenting style for child rearing, parents often look to their parents and to how they were raised in order to create their own parenting style. But, for some, a total deviation fro what they know and understand feels right. This deviation from the norm is at the heart of raising children with the laissez-faire parenting style.

Many believe that raising children mean being there 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to guide them n every decision, tell them the answer to every question and virtually hold their hands through the beginning years of life. But, these actions take more away from the child than they give to them. By choosing the art of raising children with the laissez-faire parenting style, the parent gives the act of learning back to the child.

No bottle weaning. When choosing the path of raising children with the laissez-faire parenting style, there will be no weaning from the bottle. Instead, the parent will introduce options to the baby and teach them how to use these options with the sole intention of the child choosing one of the options over the bottle. A straw is the perfect choice in this case. Children love straws and once they learn how to use them, they will no longer want to deal with that slow moving bottle.

Leave potty training to baby. Potty training can mean stress for child and stress for mom and dad. Instead of fighting with the potty, embrace that act when raising children with the laissez-faire parenting style. Open the door to the bathroom and allow your child to see you use the restroom and the actions that are involved in using the potty over and over again. They will soon choose to use the potty too.

Leave decision to the child. Children have the innate ability to want to be like their parents. When raising children with the laissez-faire parenting style, parents are trying to teach their children to be only like themselves. This includes making all decisions on their own. A parent can surely educate the child while raising children with the laissez-faire parenting style, but the final decision making needs to be the child’s choice.

Mistakes are alright too. Mistakes are gong to happen and raising children with the laissez-faire parenting style does not change that. Children who make mistakes will learn from those mistakes and that is how they grow into the adults they once become.

To choose raising children with the laissez-faire parenting style means to choose the ideals that physical parenting is less likely to help a child than parenting through guidance. The guidance allowed with raising children with the laissez-faire parenting style will show the child the right paths of life and growth.

Many parents find choosing the more traditional parenting styles more comfortable and almost ingrained in their souls. But, for the parent who chooses raising children with the laissez-faire parenting style, the uncomfortability of the new parenting style is well worth the independent outcome.

by Mirca Bauer

People who live in a same residence as good as routinely have been associated to any alternative by blood, marriage, or embracing a cause have been called a family. To most a family section consists of dual adults of conflicting sex who have been associated to any alternative in a socially excusable relationship.

In a little tools of Africa there have been family groups with a single womanlike who has some-more than a single husband. Thus a make up of a family section is really most contingent upon a culture. Most of cultures in this universe foster family life. A family ties have been means to figure a celebrity of a person, so they have been really important. Keeping this significance in view, all cultures foster it. A participation of a family section in a nation confirms that there will be assent as good as assent in a country.

These blood ties are important as they are helpful in shaping a personality. Although people understand the importance of a family unit, the trend of living as a family is decreasing. In many parts of the world people leave their parents and start living separately as soon as they complete their education and are able to earn their own living. In one sense this trend is very positive as everyone is responsible for his or herself. People earn for themselves and as a result, the number of dependents is less in such countries. The obvious result is that the economy of the country is stable. But the loosening ties have their disadvantages as well. Due to the lack of these ties there is a disruption in the society. We do not experience that peace all around the globe today as it existed few decades back. The reason is that the family unit is becoming less important to many people.

The decrease in the life span of a family unit is because of the fact that kids get their education and leave their parents to find work, and spouses lead their own life. There are many other reasons as well. There are many broken families now because the divorce rate is on a rise. The reason for this may be the unstable economic conditions or, a higher number of kids than a couple can afford to have.

For example, there have been most deceptive young kids innate any year. Right away as these kids have been innate out of nuptials there have been not most people who accept them. An outrageous commission of such kids have been put for adoption. This is something you contingency discourage. Relatives should be obliged sufficient if they wish to have kids even if out of wedlock. If they don’t wish that, contraceptives have been regularly there.

A people who have been firm to any alternative by red blood ties in this incident do not give a alternative chairman sufficient space to breathe. This creates suffocation for people as good as strength of a family section starts disintegrating. Family units have been still there though they have altered their figure according to a benefaction day requirements.

All a cultures of a universe foster family life. An enlightenment as well as multitude of a republic is unequivocally many influenced by approach family groups live in which country. Family hold up is important. People turn what they turn since of what a family hold up teaches them. A family section is means of training a chairman some-more than any alternative organisation of people in his life.

There are certain steps which should be taken to ensure the stability of relations and stronger ties among the members of a family. You should refrain all such practices which can create problems in your family life. In a family the kids live with their parents. The parents are two adults who are bound to apiece other by a legally recognized relationship.

They may have biological children of their own or they may adopt kids from other people. Most often than not the people of a family share their surname with apiece other. They live at a common place and share most parts of their lives. There is no doubt about it that the family unit is the most important unit from the point of view of demography. It is a very important social and cultural concept. The way family members behave with apiece other affects the way a culture or a society flourishes. All these factors lead us to the conclusion that family unit is a very important unit. We must keep on assessing ourselves as to whether we are healthy to wage our share of responsibility in making our family a happier one or not. We also should assess our family members and talk to them about making the family ties even stronger. We must create understanding between the members of the family. If the people belonging to a family understand apiece other, the ties of the family will automatically be stronger.

Building a home is important. To build a home you need to do certain activities. If you want to improve the quality of family life you are spending you have to pay all due attention towards these things. These steps are minor steps, but these steps result in a much better level of understanding between the members of a family, and as a result the family becomes more strongly tied to each other.

If we wish to turn closer to your family we contingency know as well as sense to emanate a robe of eating together. It is viewable which all members of a family cannot be there to eat together during times of all meals. Though what we can do is to have a robe of carrying cooking together with your family. In this approach we will be means to outlay time with your family as well as which will urge a situation. Similarly, it can be unequivocally beneficial if we can have vacations together. Those relatives who go for vacations with their kids along customarily find it simpler to bargain with their kids during an every day grind. A knowledge a kids get by roving as well as eighth month brings them closer to their parents.

The tangible role of we do all these things is to outlay time together. If we outlay some-more time with your family members we will be means to emanate an improved turn of bargain with them.

by Lauren Tyson

“Our son Cody actually graduated last fall! We were so worried he was going to give up his dream of being a lawyer after the trials and tribulations he encountered with his schoolwork. He’s such a bright teen, and we know he wanted to do well, he just got so frustrated. We were afraid to believe that his best effort may only yield a C average. It was hard to determine if the classes were the cause or if he was just a poor learner.”

Many parents share this desperate fear: that their son or daughter is unable to excel in school. A variety of factors can exist when pondering a child’s dissatisfaction with school, but many overlook one crucial question: have they been taught how to learn? The answer seems like an obvious one, and a majority of parents would respond immediately with, “Of course my teen possesses adequate learning skills. How else would they make it to high school?” Those same parents may be shocked to discover that many teens have never been formally taught how to study or prepare for an exam. Teenagers lacking those skills become easily frustrated and never understand how easy learning can be with the proper encouragement.

Just because a teenager lacks learning skills, it does not mean that they lack academic ability. A chess player can only excel at chess when they have a defined set of rules and move list. Similarly, teenagers need to learn the ins and outs of studying. After repeated disappointment, it is possible to lose hope and focus, and develop self-defeating attitudes. They begin to convince themselves that school is just not important anymore. As many parents know, this sort of apathy endangers a teen’s academic future as well as the potential direction of their lives.

Why do teens feel so disconnected from their schoolwork? Motivation may be the key. When a student is unable to relate to what they are learning, a barrier forms between them and comprehension. Teenagers will bore of learning information that they do not see merit in. Unless they find ways to reconnect themselves to the content, they will continue to feel negatively toward learning.

It is a teacher’s goal to impart information clearly, but how a student organizes and retrieves that information for personal use depends on what set of strategies they use for their cache of data. Students process information in a variety of different ways. Realistically, teachers are unable to cater to each individual student’s unique learning style. This complicates matters when considering that some students have a more auditory style of learning, while others may be more visual. Ultimately, it may be up to the student to find ways to transform the information they learn into a usable format.

Many students suffer from the same strange phenomenon: learning ceases to be entertaining and their enthusiasm for it dies. They view school as something merely holding them back from doing what they enjoy. What happened to the bright child who skipped with excitement on their way to the library? Where is that talented artist who illustrated stick figure masterpieces with several crayons and a fierce imagination? Those children aren’t gone, but merely hidden in a shell of indifference and hormones. The creative spark is still hovering in the back of their minds; it needs only to be encouraged to show itself.

One thing that will coax the creative spark from any teenager is changing their view of school. If it is viewed as a forced institution or mandatory responsibility, they will never understand what a place of learning can offer. Rather, school should be depicted as a gateway of opportunity. It is a place that will broaden their horizons and actualize their personal goals and dreams. Academic summer camps help exemplify this image by providing learning and teen life skills in a setting where teenagers feel comfortable. Here, they will gain important traits that will help them in their academic and personal lives, like confidence, self-esteem, and motivation.

Teenagers will learn a wide range of skills at academic summer camps like SuperCamp that will give them a head start on future success. Communication skills, leadership skills, building positive relationships, conflict resolution, creative thinking, setting goals, and problem solving are just some of the things they will develop and master. Conflicts in school and at home will be significantly eased as a result.

The moment a teenager takes ownership for their own learning, is the moment that they uncover an infinitely deep well of potential. Frustration over memorizing, studying, and testing will become a thing of the past.

The life of your baby is one of the things you treasure most dearly.

If you could find a way to monitor your baby 24 hours a day, surely you would.

Here is some good news for you.

With a Wireless Baby Monitor, you can watch your baby at all times.

Baby Monitors are electronic devices that allow you to monitor your baby via audio or video, even when you are not in the room with your child.

There are several varieties of units available to monitor your baby, such as an analog version, a digital version and a digital wireless version.

There are strong and weak points when comparing the different monitor types, however, the digital wireless unit ranks the highest when it comes to value for the money.

This version costs more than the others, but they have just about every type of advance features that you can imagine.

A digital wireless monitor not only keeps you aware of your child’s activities, it allows you to move freely throughout your home while doing so.

In the morning and afternoon, you can complete your household duties, such as cooking and cleaning, with piece of mind.

During the evening, you can stay alert to any problems your infant may have while resting.

Because of the digital technology incorporated into the unit, concerns about interference from frequency clash are significantly reduced.

As far as price is concerned, a digital wireless unit is the most expensive monitor, usually priced around $250, while the analog units are the cheapest at about $50.

If safety and protection for your infant are important to you, then I suggest that you choose a digital wireless baby monitor.

As any A-type personality would tell you, organization is the cornerstone of any project. The principles of disciplined order certainly apply when it comes to moving and yet so many people simply toss their possessions into boxes or plastic containers and play guessing games with their unmarked cartons once they reach their target destination.

Although it may appear that tossing everything into a crate saves time, at then end of the day, haste ends up making a lot of waste”of time that is. If you are in the process of moving or simply thinking about making that dramatic life change, there are a number of reasons why people should take a moment or two to label their moving boxes.

1. Placing boxes in their appropriate room ” when boxes are clearly labeled, you or your movers can put them in the room that they belong in. This allows you to systematically go from room to room and unpack items in a nice, orderly fashion. 2. Fragile mementos are protected ” wouldnt you hate to toss a box into the middle of the living room only to hear the loud clatter of things breaking or shattering? If you truly dont wish to destroy every piece of the hand painted china your great grandmother gave you, then it would definitely pay to mark the container holding these family heirlooms. 3. Kids can get to their possessions ” if you have kids they will most likely be weary of the routine by the time you get to your new home. Labeling containers that house their toys, books and activity games can enable them locate them quickly. Your kids will be duly entertained and out of your hair as you continue the process of moving in. 4. Pet food and toys can be accessed ” whether you have a bird, dog or cat, your animal will be as antsy as your kids when you arrive to your new domicile. Being able to quickly grab their food or favorite playthings assists you in keeping your animals happy so you can keep your mind on the business of settling in.

How you label your boxes can be just as important as the motivation to do so in the first place. Below are a few tips you can use when marking moving containers.

Use a large dark marker, preferably one with permanent ink, to write pertinent information on the box. Mark items that you know youll need to immediately access with a different colored ink and put them aside so they are the final items put on the truck or van. Of course, you should be sure to mark breakable items as FRAGILE so that your or your movers know to take due care. You may also want to keep a running inventory on what items are in what boxes. Clear plastic containers may not need to be marked in anyway prior to leaving your old address, but you can do so if you desire.

Whether you are shipping boxes yourself or movers are loading up the truck, you should seriously consider labeling all moving boxes. By taking these small preliminary steps, you can get unpacked rather quickly and start enjoying your new life in your new home right away.

One of the most stressful things that parents have to deal with, may in fact be dealing with a sick child. You feel like your hands are tied and that there is really not much you can do for them except what the doctor’s tell you, and sometimes that can be extremely frustrating. Here are some of the rules that I have found in dealing with a child who has suddenly become ill or injured and they really have helped. Obviously if it is a life or death crisis then get to the ER as quickly as you can, or call 911.

If it is not a life or death crisis then take a second to breathe and think. Most of the time our initial reaction to our child becoming ill or injured is to rush into action. This is fine if you are going to stop them from bleeding, or start CPR to keep them breathing, however when your child is ill you must think clearly. Many times a watch and wait approach is the best one. Initially when a child becomes sick or injured, they may react as if they are dying, however, this will usually calm down within a few minutes and then just monitor them closely. Make note of their behaviors, eating, sleeping, and breathing. These will more than likely clue you in to whether or not you need to get them to a doctor.

If you feel like something is wrong but you just don’t know what it is, then by all means trust your instincts and seek medical attention as soon as possible. Very rarely are parental instincts wrong.

The head is a part of the body that tends to bleed a lot, so head injuries are likely to bleed freely for a few minutes before they stop. If the child is vomiting, it is important to keep him hydrated, so give him plenty of liquids, sippable through a straw if possible. Ginger ale can be an effective drink because of the calming effects on the stomach that the ginger provides.

Whenever your child gets sick, just keep your head clear and think about the situation. If you keep these things in mind, then you’ll be able to help the situation along more effectively while avoiding any unnecessary panic that can accompany having a sick or injured child.

We teach our kids early on the importance of team sports in their lives. By the age of 5 most children a involved in a team sport or group activity. Mom, dad, I am sure you proudly recall watching your first born playing soccer at the age of 5. The rules are simple. Everyone plays and nobody loses. Funny how the game always seems to end in a tie. Your little guy chases the ball mixed into a cluster with the other children. It’s wild kicking in that cloud of kids. Thank goodness for shin guards! With time and practice your child continues to improve and quickly develops some real athletic talent.

His atletic career continues to grow. He dabbles in soccer, basketball, baseball and football until he finds the one sport he really excels in. It is then that you see his passion for the game and his true desire to win. You pay for the private instuction and make the commitment to practice and play 5 days a week or more.

As a family, you commit to raise the money to make your child’s “World Series” deam a reality. You sell hotdogs, wash cars, and seek sponsors. Your friends , family and community rally around you, contributing to the cause. You have raised the funds…the team will have their opportunity to play.

Prior to arriving at the tournment, your child’s coach informs you that the tournment allows teams to pick up “stud” players. To stay competitive with the other teams your coach feels he must do the same. The result… Your child and many of his teammates sit on the bench.

What message do we send to our children? “Thanks for all your hardwork this season, but have a seat. You’re not good enough to play these kids”. Isn’t it your child and his teammates played hard to make it to this level? I say come as a team, play as a team, leave as a team!

Immigrants to the US will often find they are required to have a DNA test in order to prove their relationship to their sponsor. It will likely be necessary to prove that they are related to the sponsor in the way that they claim.

by PTC Labs

Immigrants to the US will often find they are required to have a DNA test in order to prove their relationship to their sponsor. It will likely be necessary to prove that they are related to the sponsor in the way that they claim.

Sometimes, genetic testing for immigration is a very simple paternity test or maternity test. Sometimes the genetic test is a very difficult relationship test. The clients will have to choose a laboratory from the list of AABB accredited laboratories. Many of the AABB accredited laboratories will not be able to handle a scientifically difficult immigration case. As well as lacking the scientific ability to handle a difficult relationship case, they may also lack the clerical experience to complete the case.

PTC laboratory has dealt with US Embassies all over the world for Immigration purposes. Even though Immigration clients are given the AABB list of accredited laboratories, some Embassies refer clients directly to PTC Laboratories.

It is important for a laboratory that performs relationship testing for Immigration to have a large number of powerful identity markers available. PTC not only has a large number of genetic markers available but is one of only two or three laboratories in the country that has RFLP markers available. It is not unusual for a laboratory to give an inconclusive answer to a genetic test for Immigration. Sometimes the client is then referred to PTC to complete the test.

When you order a test from PTC you will be informed of the guarantee for that test. No matter how much testing is necessary to complete the case, you will not be charged an additional fee.

You must be truthful about the biological relationship when testing. A DNA test will likely determine if you are not related in the way that you claim. Giving the Immigration authorities incorrect information about your biological relationship will become a problem when you have the DNA test.

It does not matter what the personal relationship is between the people testing. The only thing that matters for a DNA test is the biological relationship. Being raised as a daughter or brother does not make that person your biological daughter or brother. For DNA testing you must give the biological relationship not the personal relationship. If you raised your nephew as your child, the biological relationship between you and that person is nephew. You may be the mother as far as you are concerned, but the genetic test will determine that you are not mother and child. If you do not give the correct biological relationship to the Immigration authorities, you are likely to be very unhappy when the DNA results are completed.

This can be hard to understand. Even if you and the child have maintained a parent child relationship since birth, that does not make you the biological parent. Your relationship is parent and child, but biologically, you are not the parent.

PTC has the experience and technology to provide an excellent Immigration testing service. Your genetic testing case will be handled quickly and efficiently.
